Report: Brad Friedel leads New England's "wish list" of coaching candidates

Brad Friedel - Close up

Longtime US national team goalkeeper Brad Friedel is the New England Revolution's top target for their vacant head coaching position, according to a tweet on Monday from ESPN analyst and former Revs star Taylor Twellman.

Friedel's only previous head coaching experience is with the United States' Under-19 team, and he was also an assistant on the U-20 side that won the 2017 CONCACAF Youth Championship.

Last month, MLSsoccer.com's Sam Stejskal reported that USMNT assistant and former Revs forward Pat Noonan had been interviewed for the job and that San Jose assistant Steve Ralston (also a former New England player) also was being considered for the job.

The Revs are among three MLS teams currently searching for a new head coach, with the Colorado Rapids and Montreal Impact also seeking to fill vacancies on their benches ahead of the 2018 season.
