Brian Rodriguez - LAFC - eyes on ball

Portuguese side Benfica has an eye on LAFC attacker Brian Rodriguez according to a Monday report from Portuguese outlet O Jogo.

According to the report, published by O Jogo reporter Pedro Miguel Azevedo, Rodriguez has been on Benfica's radar for a couple of years and they're currently targeting him for a move in the next transfer window, with no formal proposal made as of yet.

Rodriguez, 20, is currently in his second season with LAFC, where he's experienced some occasionally erratic form, but emerged with solid overall numbers in 2020 to the tune of two goals and seven assists in 19 games. While his finishing touch sometimes eluded him, the Uruguayan international is one of the most lethal facilitators in MLS, which is a big reason why he landed at No. 2 in the 2020 edition of the 22 Under 22 presented by BODYARMOR.

He's also broken into the Uruguay national team fold, with three senior-team goals in eight appearances, which has no doubt raised his profile on the world stage. Rodriguez is currently with Uruguay for Conmebol World World Cup qualifying, where he's joined by teammate Diego Rossi.
