Report: Atlanta United's Darlington Nagbe to be traded to Columbus Crew

Darlington Nagbe - Atlanta United - Close up

Atlanta United has agreed to trade midfielder Darlington Nagbe to the Columbus Crew, according to a report from The Athletic on Wednesday. The exact terms of the reported trade were not disclosed but it is said to involve a "significant haul" of allocation money.

Nagbe has spent two seasons in Atlanta after arriving via a trade from the Portland Timbers in December 2017. After helping Atlanta to become MLS Cup Champions in his first season, he was part of the lineup that was defeated by Toronto FC in last week's Eastern Conference Championship.

A move to Columbus would bring about a return to Ohio, where Nagbe attended both high school and college. It would also reunite him with Crew coach Caleb Porter, who was Nagbe's coach at the University of Akron. Porter also coached Nagbe at the Portland Timbers, where their success together included winning the MLS Cup title in 2015.

ESPN's Taylor Twellman joined Extratime on Thursday to break down the significance of Nagbe's reported move:
