Red Bulls host annual soccer tournament

SECAUCUS, NJ --
Red Bull New York will be teaming up with the American Cancer Society to co-host a soccer tournament prior to Sunday's match against D.C. United at Giants Stadium (5:00 PM ET, TV: MSG). The fifth-annual Red Bull New York Soccer Tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society kicks-off at 8:30 AM ET on August 10th and will conclude with a trophy presentation at 2:25 PM. Fans who plan to attend the Red Bulls match later in the day are invited to attend the tournament. Last year the tournament helped raise over $26,000 in an effort to help increase cancer research.

"We are proud to continue our long standing relationship with ACS," said Red Bulls Vice President of Communications and Community Relations Andy McGowan. "Helping to raise awareness as well as funds for research is important in the fight against this deadly disease."

"The American Cancer Society is proud to partner with the New York Red Bulls," said Jerry Hannon, Regional Vice President, American Cancer Society Northern, NJ office. "The Red Bulls continue to be strong supporters of our mission and we are thrilled to be part of the tournament. Good luck to all the players."

There are 48 teams competing in the tournament this year. Each team will consist of 12 players, with six on the field. All games are 20 minutes in length that will be played on short-sided fields in Giants Stadium and in the Giants Stadium Bubble.

The first round will be a group stage round robin format with each team guaranteed to play in three games. This is followed by a single elimination tournament to determine the champion.
