About Athletes Against Autism:
Athletes Against Autism strives to engage professional athletes and sports teams to raise awareness about autism, raise funds in support of the research initiatives of Autism Speaks and develop family support programs. Athletes Against Autism was founded by a group of athletes, touched by autism, who are harnessing their efforts into one voice in order to raise awareness and funds for autism research, treatment and family support programs. The founding members of Athletes Against Autism are NHL hockey players Olie Kolzig, Byron Dafoe and Scott Mellanby. As fathers of children with autism, they realized the importance of using their status and influence to make an impact on the over 1.5 million people in the United States alone affected by autism, and their families.
