MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER QUOTE SHEET
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2007 - LOS ANGELES GALAXY 2, TORONTO FC 1

LOS ANGELES GALAXY HEAD COACH FRANK YALLOP

On the team's performance:

"It wasn't the greatest game, but at this point we know that we need three points and we got three points, and that's all that matters. At the end of the game, we did what we needed to do and got the result."

On the substitutes:

"Master stroke. I'm just kidding. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. With Edson (Buddle), he played well when he first came here, and then he had that hamstring injury. Gavin's been the guy off the bench for us. Edson did a good job and scored the winning goal against his old team. A few guys scored against us after we traded them, so it was nice to turn it around and have one of our players score against one of his old teams, and to be the winning goal. It was important to him, I think."

On Landon Donovan:

"It wasn't easy to find space during the first half, and we did a good job being organized and difficult to break down. We talked about moving the ball quicker, and taking more chances with our attack. We were sort of too safe. I think at this time of year we have to take risks. Kyle Martino has struggled with injuries, so we decided to get him off and get Gavin on, and move Landon. Landon found a little more space wide left than in the middle. Landon is one of the best players, if not the best player, in this league. When you give him time and space, he picks players out and does the right things. He wins you games."

On the playoffs:

"Winning boasts confidence. We can't wait 'til Thursday. It's five wins in a row and no matter what, any coach is happy with that. We are going to have a good break and start preparing on Tuesday for our big game against New York on Thursday. I think for us talking about this, the playoffs, it's quite surprising. But all along I didn't think this team was so bad, and some people gave up on us and me. And here we are. And it's good because it shuts some people up, and that had a dig at us and the players. It's nice to at least have the chance to make the playoffs now."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY FORWARD LANDON DONOVAN

On the victory:

"That was really big. I don't think we were as comfortable as we were in the last four. To find a way to win, especially when they deflated us with their goal, to get the goal we needed - I'm real proud of us."

On the crowd:

"The crowd was unbelievable. We had a feeling that if we got through those four games and had a chance tonight that there would be a great crowd tonight. They're awesome. I hope we get them out again Thursday because we'll need them."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY FORWARD EDSON BUDDLE

On the game winner:

"It feels good, especially when you beat your former team. I was able to get in there and score the goal. It feels good."

On playing:

"It feels good. It feels real good, especially since it's hard to get into the lineup when the team is gelling, but the opportunity came it showed that we were all on the same page."

TORONTO FC HEAD COACH MO JOHNSTON

On the result:

"It's becoming a habit. I'm disappointed for the guys because I feel that they were worked very, very hard for each other. They defended well. We got so many guys out and it bodes well for the future. But there were some iffy calls - there are no sour grapes from me, but there were some very iffy calls."

On the midfield:

"I thought they did great. We fell behind and they handled it well. After we went to ten, we pulled Marvell (Wynne) back. That bode well, we got a goal back with a nice one from Sammy (Collin Samuel), and we could have gotten something else. That's when the referee took over."

On Collin Samuel:

"He has it in his game, it's just unfortunate for him. He was hustling and bustling for the team. He was holding the ball. He was spinning in areas. The goal he scored was a very hard goal. Overall, I'm very, very pleased with the guys."

TORONTO FC DEFENDER MARVELL WYNNE

On the game:

"The team's pretty happy about - I'm not sure why. We didn't really possess the ball well. They were playing their game, and we just tried our best to stay with them. I don't think we ever looked too dangerous. Sammy did very, very on the goal, but I think something was lacking today."

On going down a man:

"It was unfortunate. When we reviewed, it looks questionable, but it's OK. That's the game, right?"
