The Portland Timbers will be without Andres Flores during the MLS is Back Tournament due to personal reasons, a club spokesperson confirmed to

The midfielder’s father recently passed away, so he travelled to be with his family. Portland open their Group F slate Monday night (10:30 pm ET | FS1, TUDN; TSN in Canada) against the LA Galaxy.

“He had to go there for personal reasons, to be there and make sure he can spend a little bit of time with his father prior to that, then to deal with the situation after,” Savarese said of Flores. “Our hearts are with him. Our minds and prayers are with him, so right now he’s not with the group.”

Flores has logged 41 appearances over the last two seasons, registering one goal and three assists for Portland. The 29-year-old has also earned 65 caps for El Salvador's national team.

Aside from Flores, forward Dairon Asprilla is back in Portland rehabbing a meniscus injury. Felipe Mora is also recovering from a leg injury after starting Portland’s first two games since upon arriving on loan from Liga MX club Pumas UNAM.

“He hasn’t yet trained fully with us, so that’s one of the players that most likely is getting close to not being available,” Savarese said of Mora. “We continue to work with him to see if he can make the game."
