Samuel Armenteros - Portland Timbers - Close up

After falling in MLS Cup just two days ago to Atlanta United, the Portland Timbers have begun making moves for 2019. The club announced their roster update, exercising contract options on five players and declining options on another five.

The Timbers exercised options on Kendall McIntosh, Modou JadamaBill Tuiloma, Jeremy Ebobisse and Foster Langsdorf. Andy Polo's loan has automatically been made permanent due to performance thresholds while Cristian Paredes will remain at the club on loan.

Ebobisse, 21, became a vital member of the starting XI towards the end of the season and their run to MLS Cup. He notched two goals and two assists over nine regular season appearances (five starts) and started every one of their six playoff matches.

Portland did not exercise the 2019 contract options on Victor ArboledaTomas ConechnyAndres Flores and Lawrence Olum, while Steve Clark, Jake Gleeson, Roy Miller and Jack Barmby are out of contract. The club announced they're in discussions with Conechny, Flores and Clark, while Samuel Armenteros' loan will expire at the end of this month.

Conechny, 20, was signed on loan from San Lorenzo in July and played just 72 minutes across four appearances this season.
