Dairon Asprilla - Portland Timbers - Celebrates a home goal against FC Dallas

The Portland Timbers announced on Thursday that they have sent midfielder Dairon Asprilla on a year-long loan to Colombian side Millonarios FC.

The loan agreement includes an option for Millonarios to permanently acquire Asprilla.

"This year-long loan with a transfer option frees up cap space and gives the club flexibility moving forward," Portland GM Gavin Wilkinson said in a statement released by the club.

Asprilla, 24, signed with the Timbers in December 2014. He made 26 appearances and 10 starts in the 2015 regular season, scoring one goal and adding a pair of assists. He played in all six of Portland’s playoff matches in 2015, scoring one goal and tallying three assists to help the Timbers to the MLS Cup title.

The Colombian had one goal and no assists in nine league appearances this year.
