Portland Timbers forward Brian Fernandez has voluntarily entered MLS’ Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health (“SABH”)  Program, the league announced Monday.

Fernandez will be unavailable for team activities until he has undergone an assessment and is cleared for participation by the SABH Program doctors.

The 25-year-old Argentine joined Portland on May 6 and has tallied 11 goals and 1 assist in 1,411 minutes since. He did not feature in Portland's 3-1 win over San Jose on Decision Day presented by AT&T after receiving an automatic suspension for a red card in his previous game.
