A Portland, Ore.-based comic book publisher has given new meaning to watching one's heroes on the football pitch.
Dark Horse Comics has teamed with the Portland Timbers and NWSL's Portland Thorns to create comic book heroes out of four of the Rose City's favorite players: Diego Valeri (El Maestro), Diego Chara (La Sonrisa), Tobin Heath (Tobin) and Christine Sinclair (Captain Sinc).
It's not just the art, of course. The folks at Dark Horse have written the fable behind the creation of players' character, or what in comic book terms is known as the origin story.
And of course, supporters who are comic afficionados, or who just dig the idea can show off their appreciation for the idea with new apparel depicting Providence Park's fearsome foursome.
Pretty sure this guy didn't have to pay for his swag, though:
