Goal of the Matchday

Photo finish: Barco edges Roldan for Week 10 AT&T Goal of the Week prize

The latest edition of the AT&T Goal of the Week vote came down to the wire, as two of the Week 10 contenders finished nearly dead even atop the polls.

Atlanta United’s Ezequiel Barco and Cristian Roldan of the Seattle Sounders both scored on long-range blasts from outside the penalty area last weekend, and both dominated the GOTW field, each topping 44 percent of GOTW votes.

In the end, the contest was decided by less than one percentage point, as Barco’s strike – a low, skipping drive that arrowed into the bottom left corner of the net in the Five Stripes’ assured 3-0 road win over Sporting Kansas City – edged out Roldan’s entry, a jaw-dropping first-time finish hit with vicious power and spin inside the right-hand post in the Rave Green’s 1-1 draw at Minnesota United.

It's the young Argentine's fourth goal of the league campaign, and his second Goal of the Week nod, following his Week 7 win.

Finishing in a distant third in the GOTW race was Jonathan Osorio's fine solo run for Toronto FC in their 2-0 win at Orlando City (7%), followed by the slashing run and cheeky close-range chip by Philadelphia's Ilsinho (4%) and Ismael Tajouri-Shradi’s angled missile into the top corner for New York City FC vs. Montreal.
