Paraguay national team calls up MLS-based trio for March friendlies in US

Paraguay have called up three MLS-based players for their twin friendlies on United States soil this month.

New York Red Bulls playmaker Kaku Gamarra, the Portland Timbers’ Cristhian Paredes and Atlanta United winger Hector Villalba were named to the Albirrojas’ roster for their clash vs. Peru on March 22 at Red Bull Arena and a meeting with Mexico at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on March 26.

Former Atlanta star Miguel Almiron, now at Newcastle United, was also named to Paraguay’s squad.

One of RBNY’s key attacking players, Kaku has yet to appear in MLS this year but logged a full 90 minutes in all three of the Red Bulls’ Concacaf Champions League matches, notching one assist.

Villalba has been a regular for Atlanta in both MLS and the CCL, while Paredes has not yet appeard on the Timbers’ 18-man gameday roster in their two MLS matches.
