TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

Orlando City SC have acquired Dutch winger Silvester van der Water from Heracles Almelo, the club announced Tuesday. He is signed through 2023 with a club option for 2024.

Van der Water, 24, had 13 goals and eight assists in 59 matches across all competitions in the last three seasons with Heracles. He began his career with second-division side Almere City, where he had 21 goals and 11 assists in 65 appearances.

“We are excited to bring Silvester to Orlando and to Major League Soccer,” EVP of Soccer Operations Luiz Muzzi said in a club statement. “Silvester is an exciting, up-and-coming player that we have been targeting for a while. He will add yet another different dimension to our attacking corps, as we get ready to challenge for titles in a very fixture-packed year.”

Van der Water bolsters a group of wingers featuring the likes of Nani, Chris Mueller, Benji Michel and Alexander Alvarado. Earlier this offseason, Orlando acquired former Brazil national team forward Alexandre Pato.

Targeted Allocation Money was used to complete the signing.
