NYCFC's Maxime Chanot shown fastest-ever red card to start an MLS season

New York City FC center back Maxime Chanot entered the record book for the wrong reasons on Sunday against Columbus Crew SC in NYCFC's MLS opener.

The 30-year-old was shown a red card in the third minute, after taking down Lucas Zelarayan — who was ahead of Chanot and about to be 1v1 with goalkeeper Sean Johnson (watch video above). The red card is the fastest one ever shown to start an MLS season. It equals the third fastest red card to start an MLS game.
