New York Red Bulls travel delays force gameday morning flight to Atlanta

Mother Nature has certainly been reaking havoc on Week 19 of MLS play. The New York Red Bulls were the latest team to be impacted. Like, literally the latest.

According to the FOX broadcast, severe weather up and down the East Coast prevented coach Chris Armas' squad from flying out of Newark international Airport until 7 am ET Sunday morning on a league-approved charter.

The Red Bulls wouldn't arrive at their hotel until 10:30 AM, just under four hours before their 2:25 pm ET kickoff against Atlanta United. Their delays totaled 16 hours.

Of course, New York wasn't the only team impacted by weather this week.

The Philadelphia Union and Orlando City SC will now play their Week 19 cash later Sunday afternoon (4:30 pm ET | MLS LIVE on ESPN+ in the US, MLS LIVE on DAZN in Canada).

The New England Revolution and Colorado Rapids endured 3 hours and 34 minutes of delays in the Revs' 2-1 win on July 4th — and eventually July 5th.

And even the US national team's Gold Cup 3-1 semifinal victory against Jamaica on Wednesday saw play halted for nearly 90 minutes.
