New York Red Bulls' goalkeeper Luis Robles is the new MLS Ironman.
With his start and 90-minute appearance in New York's 2-1 loss over the weekend, Robles has now played the most consecutive full matches of anyone in MLS history at 113 in the regular season, 126 including playoffs.
The reigning MLS Goalkeeper of the Year joins some legendary company. According to Elias Sports Bureau, goalkeeper Kevin Hartman is now second with 112 consecutive MLS regular season matches. Hartman played 17 seasons in MLS with the LA Galaxy, Kansas City Wizards and FC Dallas. Coming in third at 90 regular season matches is goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen, who played for Sporting Kansas City from 2010-13.
To date, Robles has logged 10,170 consecutive minutes in the regular season and 11,370 in all MLS games with the New York Red Bulls. He has also set Red Bulls club records in regular-season wins (51) and shutouts (28).
