New York Red Bulls head coach Gerhard Struber arrives in New Jersey after receiving US work visa

Gerhard Struber - Barnsley - tight shot

New York Red Bulls head coach Gerhard Struber and assistant Bernd Eibler arrived in New Jersey this week after receiving their US work visas, the club announced Thursday.

Struber, who was most recently in charge of Barnsley in the English Championship, was announced as the Red Bulls' new coach on Oct. 6 following the club's parting of ways with Chris Armas. At the time, the club said it would likely be six to eight weeks before he was able to arrive in New Jersey.

In the meantime, interim coach Bradley Carnell successfully guided the Red Bulls into the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs with a sixth-placed finish in the Eastern Conference. Carnell finished the regular season with a 6W-5L-3D record since replacing Armas on Sept. 4.

The Red Bulls will meet Columbus Crew SC in Round One of the playoffs on Nov. 21 at MAPFRE Stadium (3 pm ET | TV & streaming info).
