New England Revolution sign forward Juan Fernando Caicedo on loan for 2019

The New England Revolution announced the acquisition of Juan Fernando Caicedo on Thursday, signing the forward on loan from Colombian side Independiente Medellin for the 2019 season with a permanent transfer option.


Caicedo will be added to the Revsā€™ active roster using either Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) or a Designated Player slot, pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa; he will occupy an international roster slot. He's also the second Caicedo on the club's roster, joining his countryman Luis Alberto Caicedo.

Juan brings a wealth of experience in top-flight competition and will add a new dimension to our attack,ā€ Revs GM Michael Burns said in a club release. ā€œWe are excited to have Juan in a Revolution uniform this season.ā€


A native of Carepa, Colombia, Caicedo, 29, has scored 89 goals in nearly 300 appearances across all competitions, including Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana, through nine professional seasons in the top divisions of Colombia and Argentina, most recently highlighted by 42 goals across 150 league appearances at Independiente Medellin.


He previously plied his trade at Argentinean side Club Atletico Independiente and with Independiente Santa Fe, Atletico Huila, Deportes Quindio and Cortulua in his homeland.
