Montreal Impact's Zakaria Diallo apologizes for red card against Orlando

A day after he was sent off for an ugly incident at the end of the Montreal Impact's 3-1 victory at Orlando City SC on Saturday, Impact defender Zakaria Diallo has issued an apology to his club and his fans on Twitter.

Diallo was sent off in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time by Timothy Ford, Replays captured him extending his arms in the direction of Lions striker Dom Dwyer's face.

"First off, I have to apologize to my teammates, the staff and you the #IMFC supporters for my red card," his tweet reads, in French. "I should not have responded to this provocation. The win is there and it's the most important thing. Well done to the guys."

Diallo is in his second season under contract with Montreal, though he did not play in a single game last year because of an Achilles tendon injury.

This season, he had played every minute so far for coach Remi Garde until his red card. He'll be suspended at least for Montreal's next match at Sporting Kansas City on March 30, and potentially longer pending review by the MLS Disciplinary Committee.
