After a loss to Toronto FC in the latest Canadian Classique, the Montreal Impact look to end their slide and move back above the playoff line in the Eastern Conference when they host a Vancouver Whitecaps FC side hoping to bounce back from a loss to the San Jose Earthquakes when the Canadian foes square off at Stade Saputo Wednesday night.
A midweek coaching change brought in Wilmer Cabrera, who replaced Remi Garde, but the Impact (10-14-4) couldn't stop a winless streak that is now four games following a 2-1 loss to rival Toronto FC at BMO Field Saturday. Bojan Krkic broke the scoreless stalemate with his first MLS goal four minutes into the second half. But TFC rallied to equalize through Marky Delgado in the 63rd minute before Justin Morrow netted the winner in the 81st minute as Montreal dropped below the playoff line.
The Whitecaps (6-13-9) also couldn't hold on to a lead, falling to the San Jose Earthquakes, 3-1, Saturday night at Avaya Stadium. Jake Nerwinski put the visitors in front after six minutes with his first MLS goal and Judson leveled one minute later. Chris Wondolowski gave San Jose the lead in the 34th minute and Andres Rios added a 73rd-minute insurance tally. The 'Caps spent much of the game under barrage as the Earthquakes set a new MLS record with 43 shots and 19 on target. Maxime Crepeau also set a new MLS mark with 16 saves.
