Montreal Impact unveil Thierry Henry's coaching staff for 2020 campaign

Montreal Impact - coaching staff for 2020

The Montreal Impact announced Thierry Henry’s coaching staff for the 2020 season on Wednesday, comprised of assistant coaches Kwame Ampadu, Wilfried Nancy and Patrice Bernier, goalkeeper coach Remy Vercoutre and fitness coach Jules Gueguen.

Ampadu, a UEFA A license holder and former professional player in England whose son Ethan currently plays for RB Leipzig and the Wales national team, joins the Impact after working with Henry at his last stop, French club AS Monaco, and in the academy of English club Arsenal FC.

Nancy is an IMFC incumbent, having worked with the club’s first team for the last four seasons after several years in their academy. So is Bernier, a hometown star with Montreal at the beginning and end of a distinguished playing career that also took him to Denmark, Germany and Norway; he joined the coaching staff in the latter months of the 2019 campaign.

Vercoutre is in his second season as goalkeepers coach after crossing the Atlantic following a 20-year career in France’s Ligue 1 with HSC Montpellier, Olympique Lyonnais, Racing Strasbourg and SM Caen. Fitness coach Gueguen carries an extensive coaching and sports-science resume comprising stops in Sweden and France.
