MLS suspends Orlando's Will Johnson following arrest, misdemeanor charge

Major League Soccer on Wednesday suspended Orlando City midfielder Will Johnson, who was arrested on Sept. 6 and charged with misdemeanor battery in connection with an alleged domestic incident. 


The player was suspended pending investigations by MLS and the Orlando Police Department. According to a league statement, "Major League Soccer will remain in close communication with Orlando City SC, local law enforcement, and the MLS Players Union during this investigation."


The club also issued a statement on Wednesday in which it indicated that it is "working closely with MLS and local authorities through this matter and fully support the league's decision to suspend the player pending further investigation."


Both the league and club made it clear they will not issue further comment on the matter until the conclusion of the investigation.
