MLS scouts look to West and Central Africa for new signings

Ambroise Oyongo - celebrates a goal for the Montreal Impact - May 20, 2017

Most folks reading this site  know that MLS roster-building has, of late, ramped up in its focus on finding young, undersung talent around the globe to build a successfully deadly squad. While plenty of the hype lately has centered around Central and South America, though, smart scouts are increasingly spreading their search across several countries in West and Central Africa.

Metro's Kristian Dyer reported on this development, citing the success of Cameroon's Ambroise Oyongo, until recently of the the Montreal Impact, and Anatole Abang, at the New York Red Bulls (but currently on loan), as examples. Dyer's story also says scouts are focusing on Ghana and Nigeria as well, with the two countries having exhibited top quality in international play.

Dyer's report include a few whispers of new talent heading to both the Seattle Sounders and Toronto FC; click here to read his Metro story and see who they might be.
