Raphael Wicky - Chicago Fire FC - Training

The Philadelphia Union logged their first win of their 2020 preseason, rolling past Chicago Fire FC, 3-0, on Saturday evening in Clearwater, Florida, to spoil head coach Raphael Wicky's first game on the sidelines.

Kacper Przybylko got the onslaught rolling in the first half, only for Homegrown midfielder Anthony Fontana to calmly deposit a goal of his own before halftime. Przybylko finished a through ball from strike partner Sergio Santos, while Fontana weaved through the Chicago defense and tucked home at the near post.

Early in the second half, Philadelphia Union II forward Issa Rayyan made it 3-0 and put head coach Jim Curtin’s group in cruise control. He was one of three players from their USL Championship side to start the second half.

The win saw Philadelphia respond from a 4-0 defeat against Atlanta United earlier this preseason, while Chicago dropped their first match of 2020. The Union next face the Montreal Impact on Wednesday, and Chicago encounters expansion side Nashville SC on Thursday.
