MLS players pay tribute to Diego Maradona after death of Argentine soccer legend

The soccer world was in shock Wednesday morning when news surfaced out of Argentina that Diego Maradona, one of the greatest players of all time, had died after going into cardiac arrest.


The impact reverberated throughout Major League Soccer, with players taking to social media to pay tribute to the 1986 World Cup winner. Maradona, 60, recently underwent surgery for a blood clot and had battled health issues.


A playmaking genius who’s revered for his on-ball skill and how easy he made the game look, Maradona played for clubs such as Boca Juniors, FC Barcelona and Napoli during a professional career that spanned from 1976-1997.
