DraftKings 101: Learn How to Play on DraftKings

Goalkeepers

The Hot Hands:Bobby Shuttleworth ($5,400) has back-to-back clean sheets and also has the best matchup on the board. The New England Revolution are heavy favorites at home against an Orlando City attack that has been held scoreless in three straight road games and will be missing leading scorers Kaká and Cyle Larin – who have combined for 20 of OC’s 29 goals on the season. David Bingham ($5,300) will be a popular play in net, having strung together four consecutive clean sheet victories. With only four games to build our teams from, I’m paying up for the hot hands.

Defenders

Crossing Points: With DraftKings awarding a point for each cross, I automatically lean towards rostering outside backs with high crossing upside. Chris Tierney ($6,400) suits this scoring format perfectly. He swung in seven crosses in the Revs' last game and is a constant threat on the left wing. Tyrone Mears ($5,400) has two or more crosses in eight straight games. With Marco Pappa out on international duty, Mears could be tasked with serving in set pieces.

Midfielders

Nguyenning:Lee Nguyen ($9,000) averaged 12 DraftKings points per game in the month of August. Prior to being held scoreless last weekend, Nguyen had a string of five games straight with a goal or an assist. Look for Nguyen to lead the Revs to their fourth straight win at home against Orlando City.

Gone Streaking: Shea Salinas ($6,200) has been a big part of the San Jose Earthquakes' four-game winning streak. Salinas has a goal in back-to-back games and has double-digit fantasy points in his last three outings.

Forwards

Making It Look Easy:Obafemi Martins ($10,200) made it look easy with his goal in Seattle’s 2-1 win over Portland on Sunday. Martins now has a goal in three straight outings at home and is the top forward option on the board with counterpart Sebastian Giovinco ($13,900) unlikely to go.

Birdman: With all eyes on Chelsea legend Didier Drogba ($6,900), it’s been Dominic Oduro ($8,300) sparking the Montreal Impact attack. The Birdman had three goals on 16 shots in the month of August. Both Drogba and playmaker Ignacio Piatti ($8,500) could be back on the field this weekend, which I think strengthens Oduro’s case as a fantasy option.
