The MLS Disciplinary Committee has handed down suspensions to two players, overturned a coach's suspension, and fined another player after Week 1 of the 2016 season.
Zubar foul on Lovitz
The Disciplinary Committee has fined and suspended New York Red Bulls defender Ronald Zubar one game for "serious foul play that endangered the safety of an opponent" in the 47th minute of New York's game against Toronto FC. Zubar will serve the suspension during Saturday's match against the Montreal Impact.
Bolanos foul on Ciman
Vancouver Whitecaps midfielder Christian Bolaños has also been suspended one game and fined by the Disciplinary Committee, for serious foul play in the 62nd minute of the Whitecaps game against Montreal. Bolaños will miss Vancouver's Saturday game against Sporting Kansas City.
Brillant contact with Meira
Additionally, the Disciplinary Committee has fined New York City FC defender Frederic Brillant for play violating the league's policy of "hands to the face, head or neck of an opponent", which came in the 52nd minute against Chicago.
The Houston Dynamo also appealed head coach Owen Coyle's dismissal in second half stoppage time against New England for irresponsible behavior in the technical area, and the Disciplinary Committee overturned the punishment, so Coyle is eligible to coach in the technical area on Saturday against FC Dallas.
