The MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended one player and fined another for actions taken during Week 5 of the 2016 season.
Shea foul play
The Disciplinary Committee has given Orlando City SC's Brek Shea a one-game suspension what was deemed “serious foul play that endangered the safety of an opponent” for a tackle on Dairon Asprilla during Orlando's 4-1 victory over the Portland Timbers.
In addition to the one-game suspension, Shea was issued an undisclosed fine. He'll miss Orlando's match at Philadelphia on Friday (7 pm ET; UniMás in the US, MLS LIVE in Canada).
Davies fined
New England Revolution forward Charlie Davies was fined by the Disciplinary Committee for violating the league's policy for hands to the face/head/neck of an opponent in the 86th minute of the Revs' 1-0 win against the New York Red Bulls on Friday. Davies appeared to make contact with the head of Red Bulls midfielder Mike Grella.
