Days before traveling to Los Angeles for the 2007 SuperLiga final against the Los Angeles Galaxy, Pachuca fell 1-0 to Santos, now Mexico's only undefeated side. The loss was Pachuca's first of the season after three wins to open the current campaign. Coach Enrique Meza chose not to start the offensive trio of Christian Giménez, Juan Carlos Cacho and Damián Álvarez, but all three saw action during the second half.

After a preseason which saw the arrival of a heralded new coach in Américo Gallego and a number of highly touted newcomers, Tigres continues to be the disappointment of the young season. On Friday, August 24, the Monterrey club fell to Veracruz 2-1, thus bringing its record to 0-3-1. While he later apologized, Gallego exploded against his own players after the match by saying, "You have to explain everything to a Tigres player. How to go to the bathroom, how to sit down. I am tired of this."

Atlas and Chivas faced off in this season's "Clasico Tapatio", the game between Guadalajara's two top sides, on Saturday night. For the second season in a row, Chivas knocked off Atlas, this time by a 3-1 score before a sold-out crowd in the Estadio Jalisco. Chivas won with goals from Gonzalo Pineda, Omar Arellano and captain Ramón Morales while Bruno Marioni scored for the losing side.

After a drab 1-1 tie with Pumas, América sprung back into life with a 4-1 thrashing of lowly Tecos. América, whose offense has shown flashes of greatness, shined with three goals from Uruguayan Rodrigo Lopez who now is tied with San Luis' Alfredo Moreno on top of the league goal chart. Tecos, who fired Coach Dario Franco last week, await the arrival of new hire and World Cup winner with Argentine Cesar Luis Menotti.
