Men in Blazers visit Seattle to join in Sounders' MLS Cup celebrations

Jordan Morris, Megan Rapinoe, Stefan Frei, Clint Dempsey - with Men in Blazers in Seattle

The Seattle Sounders will hold a “Championship Celebration” at their 2017 home opener on Sunday to commemorate last year’s MLS Cup heroics with their loyal fans at CenturyLink Field – but the party really got started on Thursday night.

That’s because the “Men in Blazers” podcast recorded a live episode at The Showbox in downtown Seattle, welcoming Sounders standouts Clint Dempsey, Stefan Frei, Jordan Morris and head coach Brian Schmetzer to the stage as guests, along with other Emerald City soccer luminaries like Megan Rapinoe, Alan Hinton and Morris’ dog Minnie.

Did we mention that Sir Mix-a-Lot brought the Phillip F Anschutz Trophy itself up onto the stage?

It was a raucous evening of Sounders, soccer, beer and of course, plenty of banter. Dempsey was presented with a prized camouflage blazer bearing the MiB crest, Hinton commandeered a few slugs off Roger Bennett’s pint, memorable tales of MLS Cup glory were shared and yes, “Baby Got Back” was performed live.

A fine time was had by all, and SoundersFC.com beat writer Ryan Krasnoo has a full timeline of the evening’s festivities here.

The fun continues when the Sounders host the New York Red Bulls at a packed C-Link on Sunday (7 pm ET | FS1 in US, MLS LIVE in Canada).
