Livorno: Orsi out, Camolese new coach

After a winless record that led Livorno to the basement of Serie A, Fernando Orsi has been shoved from his coach's seat.

LEGHORN - Livorno coach Fernando Orsi has been sacked following the club's disappointing start to the Serie A season.

Livorno have been unable to get their campaign off the ground and sit at the bottom of the table, without a win in their opening seven matches.

Their last outing ended in a 1-0 defeat to Catania and a statement on Livorno's website, www.livornocalcio.it, on Tuesday confirmed Orsi has now paid the price for the poor results.

It read: "As Livorno Calcio officially announces that Fernando Orsi has been removed from his post as coach of the first team.

"The club would like to thank him for his hard work, which until today he performed with seriousness, determination and professionalism, and wishes him every success on both a personal and business level."

Livorno on Wednesday named Giancarlo Camolese as their new coach.

The Leghorn-based club sacked Fernando Orsi on Tuesday and moved swiftly to fill the vacancy.

A club statement read: "Livorno can announce an agreement with Giancarlo Camolese for him to become the new first-team coach."

Camolese, 46, has had spells as coach at Torino, Reggina and Vicenza but faces a tough task at Livorno, who sit at the bottom of the Serie A table without a win in their opening seven matches.

Their last outing ended in a 1-0 defeat to Catania.
