TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Re-signed
LAFC have triggered the contract option of midfielder Latif Blessing for the 2020 season, the club announced Monday.
Blessing, 22, has appeared in all 16 games for the Supporters' Shield-leading LAFC, starting 14. Since moving to central midfield, the player has been one of the club's most indispensable pieces.
“Latif has proven to be a great fit for us on and off the field,” GM & EVP of soccer operations John Thorrington said in a statement. “He is an exciting young player who continues to improve, and we look forward to his continued contributions in the coming seasons.”
Blessing's contract was due to expire at the end of this season but the move ensures his future with the Black & Gold. He joined the team ahead of their inaugural season, selected in the club's Expansion Draft. He has appeared in 46 of the team's 50 MLS matches, adding seven goals and 11 assists.
LAFC are next in action on Friday against the Colorado Rapids (10 pm ET | UniMas in US, MLS LIVE on DAZN in Canada).
