TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

LAFC have found their new goalkeeper with the club signing 34-year-old Dutchman Kenneth Vermeer, it was announced Wednesday evening. The club used Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) to complete the signing, and he will occupy an international roster slot.

Vermeer arrives from Feyenoord, where he had more than 100 appearances in a six-year spell that included a short loan to Club Brugge. He previously spent nine years at Ajax, where he made 102 appearances. He was Feyenoord's starting goalkeeper as recently as last month when he returned from a hamstring injury to face PSV and FC Utrecht.

Across both clubs, he's won five Eredivisie titles, three Johan Cruijff Shields and a pair of KNVB Cups.

“Kenneth is an experienced goalkeeper with an impressive track record of competing at the highest levels throughout his career,” said LAFC EVP & General Manager John Thorrington in a team statement. “We are confident that he will immediately fortify our goalkeeping core, and we look forward to welcoming him to the City of Los Angeles.”

Vermeer has featured for Holland’s youth teams from U-16 to U-23 and had five caps for the senior national team, though hasn’t featured since a March 2015 international friendly against Spain.

It was originally reported Vermeer was bound for the LA Galaxy, but Fox Sports NL was the first to report Tuesday his destination was actually LAFC.
