A second half goal from Bryan Jordan was not enough as the LA Galaxy Reserves fell to the Houston Dynamo Reserves 2-1 on Sunday at The Home Depot Center. First half goals from Chris Wondolowski and Stuart Holden gave the visitors the full three points in their Reserve Division season debut, while the Galaxy's record falls to 0-2-1.
Wondolowski opened the scoring after just five minutes as he collected the ball on the edge of the box and fired a right-footed shot past Galaxy goalkeeper Josh Wicks for a 1-0 advantage.
Houston would double that lead six minutes before halftime as Stuart Holden scored his first of the season. Corey Ashe's cross from the left wing was headed away by Troy Roberts, but only as far as Holden, whose right-footed volley snuck inside Wicks' left post, giving the Dynamo a 2-0 lead which they would take in to the half.
The Galaxy would cut their deficit in half just before the hour mark as Bryan Jordan scored his second goal of the season. A quick one-two by Alan Gordon and Peter Vagenas in midfield allowed Gordon to slide a pass through the Dynamo defense for Rodrigo Lopez who played a pass across the face of goal for Jordan who slid in to knock the ball over the line, cutting the Houston lead to 2-1.
However, the score would stay that way until the end as Wicks and Houston goalkeeper Corbin Waller each made a number of saves in the second half, keeping the score at 2-1 until the final whistle.
