Battle for LA
In one of the most anticipated matchups of the season, the LA Galaxy and Los Angeles Football Club will face off for the first time on Saturday.

Tradition vs. Ambition
The LA Galaxy, in their 23rd season, are a global soccer brand and the winningest team in MLS history with five MLS Cup titles. LAFC, playing in their inaugural MLS season, have some catching up to do. But the Black & Gold have been unabashed about their ambitions to become a world-renowned club.

All eyes on Zlatan
Almost as if to emphasize their place in LA and MLS, the Galaxy made a splash by signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic just days before the LA derby. He is expected to be in the Galaxy’s gameday squad vs. LAFC and could make his MLS debut.

El Tri(o)
They are three of the biggest Mexican national team stars to ever set foot in MLS and on Saturday the most recent arrival, LAFC’s Carlos Vela, will look to outshine the Galaxy’s Dos Santos brothers – Giovani and Jonathan – mere months before teaming up to represent Mexico in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Coaching legends square off
These days they simply go by "Sigi" and "Bob." The former is LA Galaxy manager Sigi Schmid, the winningest coach in league history (231 wins). His LAFC counterpart is ex-US national team head coach Bob Bradley, No. 5 all-time with 126 victories and back at the helm of an MLS club for the first time since 2006.
