LA Galaxy superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic voted MLS Player of the Week for Week 28

Zlatan Ibrahimovic - LA Galaxy - celebrates a goal - tight shot - Sept. 16, 2019

He's saying he's the best ever in MLS, and in Week 28 of the 2019 MLS regular season, Zlatan Ibrahimovic backed up that talk, with a hat trick in a stunning 7-2 win for the LA Galaxy over Sporting KC on Sunday.

That performance has seen the Swedish striker voted MLS Player of the Week as a result.

In a game with massive "six-pointer" implications for both teams, Sporting in fact took an early lead, but Ibrahimovic helped the Galaxy grab control of the game at Dignity Health Sports Park, following up his saved penalty attempt to tie up the game in the 32nd minute, before scoring the eventual game-winner in the 51st minute, and then capping off the seven-spot with a terrific tally in the 85th minute to make it 7-1.

The hat trick is Ibrahimovic's second of the season and third MLS Player of the Week honor in 2019. He has 26 goals this season, pulling to just two goals behind Golden Boot presented by Audi leader
Carlos Vela
.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while a Twitter fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
