TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report

After the Portland Timbers united the Chara brothers, there have been reports that another MLS-related family reunion could be in the works in Mexico.

According to Marca, Club America have made LA Galaxy midfielder Jonathan dos Santos their top transfer target. His brother Gio currently plays for the Liga MX giants after leaving the Galaxy in 2019.

But Jona dos Santos is on the record of his desire to remain in Los Angeles. He told Mundo Deportivo that, though playing for Club America had been his dream, he is happy with the Galaxy and even hopes to retire there.

Club America recently lost on penalties in the Apertura final to Monterrey CF, despite Gio dos Santos coming off the bench to score in the shootout.

The Galaxy already lost Zlatan Ibrahimovic this offseason while Romain Alessandrini's future is currently up in the air, leaving dos Santos as perhaps the club's lone Designated Player from 2019 set to return in 2020. Argentina winger Cristian Pavon will also occupy a Designated Player spot in 2020 after having his loan deal from Boca Juniors extended.

Jona dos Santos, a Mexico international, was one of the Galaxy's most consistent performers in 2019, helping lead the club to the conference semifinals in the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs.

Dos Santos has made 64 appearances for the club since joining during the 2017 season.
