Jermaine Jones thanks Rapids teammates, coaches as Colorado stint ends

Jermaine Jones - Colorado Rapids - Waves to supporters after loss to Sounders

Jermaine Jones’ time in Colorado officially came to a close on Tuesday, when the out-of-contract midfielder’s MLS rights were traded to the LA Galaxy.

Jones only played nine regular season games in his one season with the Rapids, missing large chunks of the season due to injuries and a suspension. Still, his time in Colorado clearly had an impact, with the 35-year-old taking to Twitter after news of his trade to LA broke to thank his Rapids teammates, coaches, support staff and the club.

“And a big shout out to my teammates for always believing in me. I will miss you guys – we worked our a** off! Every one of these guys earned respect this season, it was a pleasure to play with all of you,” he wrote. “I’ve never seen such a crazy coaching staff like in Colorado. Don’t get me wrong, but the guys are working like crazy, days and night, and they love the game as much as I do. I love it, thanks guys!!!”

Jones, who has a home in the LA area, will now be free to negotiate a new contract with the Galaxy.
