TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

Inter Miami CF have signed versatile midfielder Joevin Jones, the club announced Thursday.

Jones, 29, spent 2016-17 and 2019-20 with the Seattle Sounders, winning MLS Cup twice. He made 93 appearances for the club, where he featured both at left wing and left back. He originally joined MLS via Chicago Fire FC, making 28 appearances in his lone season with the club.

“Joevin is a talented player with great title-winning MLS experience who can feature in a number of positions” sporting director Chris Henderson said in a club statement. “I know Joevin well from my time in Seattle, he has the technical ability to change games and will be a good fit with us at Inter Miami.

Between stints in Seattle, Jones made 44 appearances with SV Darmstadt 98 in the German second tier. He has 76 caps with the Trinidad and Tobago national team.

His career began with popular T&T club W Connection, where he worked his way up to team captain by his fifth season in 2013. After a brief 2014 loan to Finnish club HJK Helsinki, Jones moved to the Chicago Fire prior to the 2015 campaign.

Jones had two goals and three assists in 13 appearances (10 starts) with Seattle in 2020.
