Rodolfo Pizarro - Inter Miami - 03/01/20

When it comes to the debate regarding the best Mexican player at the moment, two names are bound to jump to the forefront.

For fans of MLS, there's a strong case to be made for LAFC's Carlos Vela, and not just because of the eye-popping numbers he's put since joining the league in 2018, including a record-shattering MLS MVP-winning campaign of 2019. He has a lengthy and impressive all-around resume, as a longtime standout for La Liga's Real Sociedad and with 19 goals in 72 career senior appearances for the Mexican national team.

But there's also a more than worthy candidate in Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Raul Jimenez, who is currently in the midst of a stint in the English Premier League where he's scored 26 goals in 67 appearances over the past two seasons. He also has 24 goals in his 81 career caps for El Tri

For what it's worth, Inter Miami CF's Rodolfo Pizarro weighed in on the debate in an interview with's Tom Marshall, but Pizarro couldn't quite bring himself to break what he says is a dead heat between the two players.

"I think they are the best," Pizarro said. "It's difficult because Raul Jimenez is scoring goals against Manchester United and Manchester City and Carlos Vela is in MLS. In talent, everyone knows about Carlos Vela. I think it's between those two and it's even."

It's a completely fair response, but if you have any arguments for what could be considered a tiebreaker between the two, feel free to drop them in the comments section below.
