Independent Review Panel rescinds red card to Montreal's Calum Mallace

Calum Mallace - Montreal Impact - Close up

On Friday, the Independent Review Panel rescinded the fine and one-game suspension issued to Montreal Impact midfielder Calum Mallace after the midfielder was ejected from the Impact's 1-0 win against Toronto FC. Mallace saw red in the 43th minute, after a hard collision with Steven Beitashour after the whistle.

However, Mallace's appeal was unanimously upheld by the Panel, which consists of one representative each from the US Soccer Federation, Canadian Soccer Association and the Professional Referees Organization (PRO).

As a result, Mallace will be eligible to play in Montreal’s next match against Orlando City on Wednesday, September 7 (7:30 pm ET, TSN5 in Canada | MLS LIVE in US).
