Independent Panel rejects red card appeal from Houston's Alberth Elis

The Independent Panel, consisting of one representative from the United States Soccer Federation, one representative from the Canadian Soccer Association, and one representative nominated from the Professional Referee Organization, has rejected the Houston Dynamo’s appeal of the red card issued to forward Alberth Elis in the 98th minute of Houston’s match against Sporting Kansas City on August 4.

Elis will serve his red card suspension during the Dynamo’s next MLS regular season match against Columbus Crew SC on Saturday (7:30 pm ET | TV & streaming info). He will be available for the Dynamo's U.S. Open Cup semifinal against LAFC on Wednesday at BBVA Compass Stadium (8:30 pm ET; USSoccer.com).

Each club is entitled to two unsuccessful appeals per season, including playoffs. Houston has one unsuccessful appeal remaining for the 2018 season (including the playoffs).
