MLS action is finally back with Week 1 kicking off on Saturday, February 29. And the league made its presence felt with a bang.
Or rather, bangers.
Many typically talk about rust in the early weeks of the season, but there was none to speak of on all the world-class goals scored on Saturday. And there are five more games still to come on Sunday!
AT&T Goal of the Week voting doesn't come until after Week 1 is in the books. But we couldn't wait to show you these five goals from Opening Day. They're just too good:
What Kinda sick was this goal
We Kinda have to use the word play if new Sporting KC signing Gadi Kinda keeps doing things like this:
GOAL: Gadi Kinda puts Sporting KC back in the lead
Free kick delight
You can forgive Toronto FC for not seeing this one coming. San Jose's Oswaldo Alanis is a defender and probably the least talked about among the record Liga MX imports this offseason. But everyone will now be watching out for him on set pieces this year, especially after this left-footed beauty to tie the match in stoppage time:
GOAL: Oswaldo Alanis hits a last-second free kick to level the match
The old Chest-and-Volley
Atlanta's Emerson Hyndman is a wonderfully technical player and he showed his entire repertoire in a single play on what turned out to be the eventual winner in Nashville:
GOAL: Emerson Hyndman's stunning volley has Atlanta back in the lead
Clear them cobwebs
That's clearly what LA Galaxy winger Cristian Pavon can do when he tucks those patented curlers into the top corner.
GOAL: Cristian Pavon's golazo has the LA Galaxy ahead
He chipped him!
Montreal's Maxi Urruti doesn't often go for finesse on his shots on goal. But this game-winner was all touch:
GOAL: Maxi Urruti perfectly lobs the keeper to spectacularly give Montreal the lead
