Generation adidas: Q&A with Tyler Polak

Tyler Polak

Creighton left back Tyler Polak’s journey to MLS saw the promising young defender spend a lot of his time honing his skills at the US Soccer Residency program in Bradenton, Fla. After two seasons playing in Omaha, Neb., Polak signed a Generation adidas contract and will look to impress starting this Friday at the MLS Combine.

MLSsoccer.com caught up with the rising star to get his thoughts about the coming week and reflecting on his career as a Bluejay.

MLSsoccer.com: What are you thoughts about turning pro?

Polak: I’m very excited, but a little nervous at the same time. Some mixed emotions, but overall excited about the whole process.

MLSsoccer.com: You spent a lot of time playing for US youth teams growing up. How did that help you as a player?

Polak: As a player, the level I was playing at, playing other international teams got me some good experience and helped get me to where I am today.

MLSsoccer.com: Last summer, you played for Chicago Fire’s PDL team. How did that help you while away from college?

Polak: It was really productive. Instead of sitting in the house not doing anything, I was playing soccer everyday, playing games on the weekend, getting my name out there as well.

MLSsoccer.com: Is there anything you’ll miss from playing at Creighton?

Polak: I’ll definitely miss the guys. I had a close bond with my teammates. I’ll miss the fans as well, we had a pretty good setup there with the stadiums. They gave us a lot of support. I’ll miss that.

MLSsoccer.com: Any nerves ahead of the Combine?

Polak: Some mixed emotions. I’m excited, looking forward to seeing some past teammates that are going to be there. It’s going to be a lot of fun.
