TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
Fernando Torres appears to be a hot property to a number of MLS teams, and with speculation mounting over which team could sign the Spanish striker, one team put cold water on ties linking them to the Atletico Madrid man.
Montreal Impact head coach Remi Garde was asked on more than one occasion in recent days about Torres, who was linked to the Impact in mid-April, alongside the Chicago Fire. More recently, the Houston Dynamo and Sporting KC have been linked in the pursuit as well, per ESPN.
“Fernando Torres is a very good player, but he isn’t in the Impact’s objectives,” said Garde last month. “He isn’t a part of our current plans.”
Most notably, when asked again this week, Garde told reporters to put it out of their heads.
“You really need to forget about him, sincerely,” said Garde.
