Game reaction from Reds players

Maurice Edu wants his Toronto FC team to focus on making the MLS playoffs.

Toronto FC's Mo Edu is calling for the team to focus on making the playoffs following the Reds failure to advance to the CONCACAF Champions League. The 1-1 tie with the Montreal Impact at BMO Field on Tuesday wasn't enough to win the Nutrilite Canadian Championship. Mo Edu said: "It's frustrating. It's a very disappointing result. It feels like a loss because we didn't win the tournament and we're not going on to the Champions League. But the season is not over. We now need to focus on trying to make the play offs." Edu was moved into a more attacking role, and was disappointed not to score. "Coach had me playing a bit further forward and I had a couple of chances, but I just couldn't finish them. I'm a little disappointed in myself, but I've just got to rebound and try and keep my head up."

"It's a terrible day," said Reds winger Rohan Ricketts. "Twenty thousand fans came out to support us and you feel like you let them all down. I can't believe we're sitting here talking and we've not gone through, because I really thought that we would win the game and go on. We've got to try and put this out of our heads now and move on, because we've still got a lot to play for this season."

"It was the same as the game against San Jose," said Captain Jim Brennan. "We threw everything at them, but we just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net. We attacked and attacked but it just wouldn't go in for us. We're devastated. We can't take anything away from Montreal. They're a good side and they came here with a game plan and stuck with it and they got the result they needed."
