Francis Doe called-up by Liberia

WASHINGTON, D.C. --
D.C. United announced today forward Francis Doe has been called-up to participate in World Cup qualifying for his native country, Liberia. Doe will depart D.C. on Sunday, May 25 and return on Saturday, June 21.

Liberia will play four qualifying games over 20 days in June, beginning with a June 1 match versus Gambia. Five days later (June 6) they'll face off against Algeria before ending with two games against Senegal - the first on June 15 and the second on June 20.


Doe previously represented Liberia in 2006 World Cup qualifiers and also in the 2008 African Cup qualifying stages, notching two goals in the latter. He opened the scoring in a 3-2 victory over Rwanda on 10/8/06 and on 3/28/07 against Cameroon, he scored the lone goal for Liberia in the 3-1 loss.


Doe has made four appearances (one start) so far this season for United, totaling 118 minutes on the pitch. He was signed to a senior roster spot on April 22 of this year, after spending 2007 with the New York Red Bulls.
