Former Seattle Sounders center back Roman Torres signs with Costa Rica's Cartagines

Roman Torres - fan high five - tight shot

Roman Torres’ second stint with Seattle Sounders FC proved to be a short and uneventful one.

The Panamanian center back, who made three short substitute appearances in Rave Green after arriving in late September following a trade with Inter Miami CF, has signed a one-year deal with C.S. Cartagines in Costa Rica, the club announced Saturday.

The 34-year old Torres made 86 appearances for the Sounders across all competitions over the course of six seasons. He signed with inter Miami as a free agent last December, but made just five appearances for the expansion side, prompting his return to Seattle for the later stages of the 2020 season.

Torres, who has been capped 119 times for Panama, was out of contract at the end of the season. After flirting with a return to Colombia, where he wore five different shirts in nine productive years before signing with Seattle, Torres found a new home in Costa Rica with Cartagines.
