Former NYCFC, USMNT midfielder Mix Diskerud joins Turkish club Denizlispor

Mix Diskerud - New York City FC

Former New York City FC and US men's national team midfielder Mix Diskerud has joined Turkish Super Lig side Denizlispor, marking the latest stop in a career that has seen him join clubs in seven countries.

Diskerud's deal with Denizlispor lasts until the end of the 2021-22 season, with an option to extend the deal another year. The team are currently at the bottom of the Super Lig table, with 14 points from 19 games. Halfway through the season, Denlizspor are five points from safety of relegation.

Diskerud's new deal means his three year stint with Manchester City comes to end, though it was an unusual one. He spent the entirety of his time on the books at City on loan, spending time in Sweden and South Korea. Most recently, Diskerud was on loan at Sweden's Helsingborg, scoring two goals in 28 games.

Diskerud was part of NYCFC's inaugural season and scored the team's first ever MLS goal. He was there for two seasons, scoring four goals in 39 games. Diskerud also played for the USMNT from 2010 to 2016, and went to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil but did not play.
